;-)
The Colchester Campus is really compact which means everything from the cafés and bars, to the Sports Centre, to the teaching rooms and the accommodation are within five minutes walk from each other. You can get up at ten-to-ten and still make it to your ten o'clock lecture!
The grounds around the campus are amazing. With three lakes and plenty of green
countryside, the campus grounds have swayed many people to choose Essex. In the
summer the lake and surrounding area is packed with people sunbathing, kicking a
ball around and students trying (or rather, pretending that they are trying) to revise!
There are built-in barbecues, and you're allowed to bring your own. The
wildlife is stunning and the lakes look fantastic throughout all of the seasons,
but especially if you’re lucky enough to get snow.
The views from The Towers are amazing. The Towers are 1960s inspired buildings; architecturally innovative at the time but which lack any notion of modern in the 21st century. But they do have character and they do the job. Mind you, this may not be for long....rumour has it that as we speak rabbits are furiously burrowing under The Towers, and it is only a matter of time before they collapse and the evil rabbits take over the University (the first step in their grand plan of conquering the world!)
The five squares, which form the central campus area, provide great meeting places. But watch out for the birds – ducks, geese and swans!! Don’t fight them; they win every time!

If on the other hand you are looking for a town location, the Southend Campus could be the place for you! It's located right in the centre of the town which makes it really convenient for everything, although it does mean you are constantly surrounded by shops to tempt you to spend the whole of your student loan in the first week!
The campus building is brand new and designed specifically for the job it does, this means all of the facilities are state-of-the-art and purpose-built. So whichever course you are on you will benefit from coming to the Southend Campus. There is also a brand new Students' Union which hosts different bands and open mike nights organised by its very own students. This also works in conjunction with a local nightclub to organise popular student nights such as Flirt. To watch a short video about the Southend Campus, please follow this link.
The other great thing about the Southend Campus is its seaside location and its seven miles of coastline. This is just perfect for spending hot summer days. There's so much you can do, whether it is playing on the sand or in the sea, relaxing and sunbathing, or revising for exams.
Don't forget that you're welcome to attend one of our Open Days throughout the year. If you want to get a feel for the campus, speak to some of the teachers or check out the accommo- dation on offer then it is a great idea to come to our campuses in the summer or autumn when we'll be running an Open Day.
